construction updates - *phases of the build
A&M has two projects that are currently under construction — the Chatt Hills craftsman and Austin dogtrot. We took advantage of the nice weather and walked both job sites. McKinney happens to be building both projects, so you’ll notice some similarities between the two.
The craftsman is in the rough framing phase of construction. This means the foundation for the house is done, the lumber is on site, and the framing crew are assembling the house with wood framing. This is the time where you start to see the edges of the house. Walls are being formed and the house looks like a skeleton, growing limbs every day — and this crew moves fast! This is the best time we make sure that walls, soffits, floors and blocking are all installed per the drawings.
The dogtrot has hung drywall and the exterior stone has been laid. Interior finishes and lighting have been arriving on site. This is the time to confirm that the exterior details are being executed per the construction documents and the finishes are looking as expected. We designed a custom mailbox and entrance at the driveway with boulders acquired on property. Since the masons finished the fireplace they were able to go ahead and build the fireplace as well. We’re pleased with how it turned out!
